Our stars can’t stop shining! The latest in our constellation is Radiographer, Sarah Tattersley, who received her Star Award for showing kindness towards under-privileged children.
She recently organised for colleagues in the CT department to donate gifts for children, rather than participate in a secret Santa for Christmas. With their help, Sarah was able to drop off more than 80 gifts to the Focal Community Centre in Huddersfield. She now hopes to make this an annual event and bring joy to local children each Christmas.
Sarah said: "I feel like this Star Award is not just for me, but for the whole of CT. If it wasn't for the huge team effort then we would not have achieved what we set out to, which was to make a difference to children who wouldn’t be receiving gifts over the Christmas period. To know that we played a part in making a child's Christmas a little better is a reward in itself.
"When I delivered the gifts to the community centre, they were overwhelmed with gratitude. They could not believe the number of gifts we had managed to collect and were extremely grateful."
Advanced Practitioner, Victoria Woodward, nominated Sarah and said: “Sarah has shown kindness at a time when people are struggling. Christmas is a hard time for some people and can cause a lot of stress.
“She collected presents, not only for younger children, but for older ones too and I’m so proud of her! I’m nominating her because undoubtedly, she has helped to put a smile on the face of a child who wouldn’t have gotten anything for Christmas otherwise. She didn’t do this for any recognition, but she certainly deserves some.”
