Nine years ago we shared how our Physiotherapist, Karl Gray, came home with silver from Slovenia after representing his country in the World Long Distance Mountain Running Championship event.

His dedication and love of running has seen Karl once again reaching a podium finish as he been crowned MV55 World Masters Mountain running champion after storming to victory in the 34km race, in Italy. In fact this year he’s completed the ‘Grand Slam’ (all the championships in one year).

We asked him what kept him so motivated.

“I definitely love my running! I suppose the simple answer is I really love exercising, particularly running and cycling and the sense of challenging myself. In a sporting sense I’ve always been competitive and enjoy setting new goals and challenges each year, which in turn keeps my training focused. I’m proud of my achievements this year and it was extra special to have my family there with me in Italy and making a short late summer holiday out of it too.”

Well done to Karl!
