Our physio Karl "Earl"  Gray came home with silver from Slovenia after representing his country.

 

He was one of the GB team in the World Long Distance Mountain Running Championship event which beat Germany and was topped by Italy. Individually, he came 12 th. The course included a 9,000ft ascent in heat and challenging footing along alpine terrain.

 

Karl, a member of Calder Valler FR, said: "I had a fantastic time racing in Slovenia. It was amazing and I am very proud to have been part of team GB.

 

"I had a fantsatic run and managed to pace myself well by not overdoing it on the first climb and descent. I was 26th at the first summit and was 15th before the last climb. All five of us ended up in the top 16 and I am really proud."

 

He was selected after finishing fourth in the Yorkshire Three Peaks race.

 

The Womens team won bronze and Annie Conway from team GB won the womens race and is the World Champion.
