Our caterers have dished out hundreds of turkey dinners so far - with hundreds more to come on December 25.

Unfortunately, though, at CRH it was so popular they ran out so the caterers there had an emergency Xmas dinner with a chicken breast. Head chef Alison Place, said: "There was enough for our patients and the public but not for us ...  everyone took it ok though."

For our patients there'll be turkey three ways for our patients this Christmas.  True roast, pureed and turkey casserole.

Roast dinner is the most popular but some patients prefer it softer hence the other options. New for this year  at HRI is the veggie option of mushroom, leek and pepper roast and fresh-made tomato soup will be the starter. There'll also be 4,000 sprouts served up on Christmas Day and a mountain of spuds and carrots. 625 mince pie will go out to staff and the wards.

Head of catering Adrian Brown, said: "Turkey is always top choice and we try to make sure there's a meal to suit all our patients."
