Our huge birthday cards in the main entrances were a massive hit with colleagues and patients alike - all sending their best wishes to the NHS at the ripe old age of 70. And all around CHFT cakes were baked and donated so colleagues and patients could celebrate too.

One photo below is of one of our CRH VIPs - Brian Hildred. Brian shares his birthday with the NHS turning 70 on the same day. And as well as bringing him into the world 70 years ago the NHS has helped him stay here as he's just been given the all clear from prostate cancer this year.

Also, Ward 5 went back in time in style with nurses wearing paper nurses' hats and patients receiving NHS Coins and a Memory Tree.

Our volunteers were also on hand to support the signing of the card, the tea parties and the raffle - top effort.

Thanks top all our donors from local shops, restaurants, bars and beauty parlours for their support. Our raffle - purely through donations only - raised nearly £500 for our local hospices. Attached at the bottom is a big list of them all.

Also extra thanks to Terry and his team at the Wireworks for their free BBQ yesterday evening. Perfect end to our Big Day.
