Our thoughtful colleagues Angela Hope and Caren Reid are organising a special Christmas kindness box collection for older and vulnerable patients this Christmas.

The idea stemmed from when Angela used to be a sister on ward 9 and another time on 5ab - when she made sure every patient received a gift on Christmas Day.

Angela who trained at CHFT in 1988, and then went to work at Northawram Hospital said "Being back in the Trust after 15 years made me think back and I thought the boxes are a great idea for children, but lots of older and vulnerable people are lonely and isolated and also need a little kindness …".

Angela and Caren are looking for boxes made up with things like: gloves, scarves, hand warmers, toiletries, nice smellies etc, as well as some wrapped goodies like chocolate, Christmas cake, baking.

Please mark the box in case patients are diabetic/coeliac etc.and a reminder to make sure any food is wrapped securely.

Because the boxes are for older or vulnerable people in our hospitals please don't include toys.

We'll keep you posted when the boxes are being distributed.

Drop off point:

Clinical Skills and Simulation Office,
Learning and Development Centre, CRH.

Please donate your boxes by Friday 16th December.

A flyer is attached to this story.....a huge thanks in advance to colleagues.
