Our Local Counter Fraud Specialist Adele Jowett and trainee Anti-Crime Specialist Olivia Townsend were given a tour of Huddersfield Pharmaceutical Specials (HPS) to find out more about the unit.
The invitation came from Managing Director, Burrinder Grewal, and followed a presentation about the level of potential fraud risk the unit is exposed to. Adele and Olivia were not aware of the work of the unit so they gowned up, put on their hairnets and overshoes and delved into the depths for a guided tour.
Adele, said: " Work is still ongoing with the team at HPS with at least one further visit planned (most likely without the need for hairnets) however even from a first visit it was clear to see that the team have a great attitude towards security and fraud risk management."
Now that there is an understanding of how things work Adele and Olivia will be able to tailor a presentation to the specific needs of HPS. This will be delivered to staff at HPS with the aims of alerting everyone there to the potential fraud/security risks that they are open to.
Adele has worked as a Counter Fraud Specialist for CHFT for a number of years and through informing and involving she has managed to engage many staff members with the aim of reducing the risk of fraud whilst at the same time increasing the probability of people reporting any suspicions.
Olivia joined the Anti-Crime team in September. Although she will qualify as a Counter Fraud Specialist at the end of November, Olivia will also become an accredited Security Management Specialist.
If you think that you or your team would benefit from a short presentation around Fraud; would like to report any suspicions or gain further information about what the Anti-Crime Team do please contact Adele Jowett directly on 01924 816098 or Adele.jowett@cht.nhs.uk
