We've made a quick video to help colleagues understand the difference between the fire alert sounds at HRI. We know Keith's an expert in fire related matters, though his acting skills need a little honing. And Karen Bates looks very enigmatic too.
There are two different sounds. Each sounds different depending on whether an alarm has been triggered in the area you are working in, or if you are in another area of the hospital.
Click here to see the video on the fire pages and hear the difference between the two sounds.
If the alarm has been triggered in the area you are working, it’s important to check for fire (initial check, then full check) and remember to dial 666 to keep switchboard informed.
If the alert means there may be a fire somewhere else in the hospital you do not need to evacuate or check for fire as this is being done elsewhere. These areas should not ring 666; the fire alarm panel will give you the information you need.
