CHFT Weekly can reveal the infection control troopers who've been touring the wards - during the warmest October for years - in big furry bug outfits.
It's Amanda (yellow bug) Holmes and Peter (red bug) Stelfox from Infection Prevention and Control .. and they're on a mission!
Over the next couple of weeks they'll be visiting CRH, HRI and our community services to promote the annual Hands On: Handwash Roadshow.
They've been walking the wards and corridors of the hospitals dressed as bugs to remind colleagues, patients and visitors that the washing of hands with soap and water is the single most effective way of preventing the spread of infection.
They've already made their way around CRH and Chief Exec Owen went along to find out the latest on hand hygiene from Peter, Amanda in their bug outfits and Belinda Russell.
They are running competitions for colleagues to enter with lots of prizes to be won, as well as having some freebies like pens (we know you love your pens!), sweets, highlighters etc.
Colleagues can also see replicas of the bugs we want to prevent from our hospitals (our fab path lab helped with preparing the plates for the displays - so thanks to Craig Wood and Paula Dadson from CRH).
Colleagues can also experience the next level technology in hand washing with the Surewash machine.
So when you see them go and say hello and take part - you'll be surprised at what you'll learn.
