Both our local authority areas are hosting a Safeguarding Week this week.

The idea is to promote that everyone in health and social care has a responsibility to play their part and to strengthen the professional work already taking place to keep children, young people and adults safe.

Tomorrow  (Oct 21) Kirklees are hosting an event at Huddersfield Mission from 12.30 pm together with Kirklees Dementia Action Alliance. A play called "Seeking Joan" will be held about safe places and dementia friendly communities. There will also be stalls and lunch.

Contact Samantha Jones on 07711 589580 for more information. For more info about other events contact: www.kirklees.gov.uk/safeguardingweek

And in Calderdale people have been tweeting their support for Safeguarding Week. Vicky Thersby (see attachment below) said "This is all about raising awareness. Clearly we can't all know every single thing about safeguarding but it's important to have an awareness of what it's about and where to go for advice. There is always someone that you can contact.
