It's been a flying to start to our flu campaign 2016. And today has been dubbed "Full On Flu Day".

In the first three days of this week around 500 colleagues have been vaccinated to protect themselves and their families this winter....great stuff. And 15% of FSS docs have had their vaccination - double the amount of any other division.

Director of Nursing Brendan Brown said:  "Wow...there is a tremendous momentum at the moment and all the signs are it will continue. Thanks to all our peers vaccinators (we couldn't do it without you) and everyone who has had their jab."

On Monday - day one, more stickers were given out on a first day than any other year - a first for Occupational Health, and the IC team had to keep going back for extra supplies of the vaccine as they kept running out.

It is important to have your vaccination. Medicine Board were among the first to sign up en masse - see picture - and since then the campaign's been spreading through the Trust - so to stop the flu doing the same please have your vaccination. You'll see immunisers in t shirts and armbands.

Last year we had 53 patients admitted with flu - that's an average of one a week - so extra protection really is needed.

And new for 2016: Weekly drop-ins are being held at the same each week this month between 12 and 1.30 every Thursday: Forum A outside Spice of Life at HRI and the Learning Centre at CRH.

On Monday there will be our first weekly draw where everyone who has had a jab goes into a hat (their name, not them!). Your name stays in the hat until hopefully picked, so the earlier you have the vaccine, the more chances of scooping a £50 high street voucher.
