A big shake up in Community Specialise Palliative Care Team

 

After 20 years working for CHFT, Sylvia North (pictured centre) is retiring from the Calderdale Community Specialist Palliative Care Team this week. After initially working within Acute Oncology, Sylvia chose to specialise in end of life / palliative care becoming a Macmillan Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist. For the past 9 years, she has been an invaluable member of the community team covering a caseload spanning from central Halifax to Todmorden.

Trudi Newcombe, has been appointed to take on the Macmillan post, and will be supported by the team during induction to CHFT and Community working. Trudi’s background is hospice care and community nursing in Leeds. Trudi is looking forward to the new CNS role.

 

Lucy Dawson, recently joined the team on secondment as a Palliative Care Support Nurse, and is developing her specialist skills from previous hospice experience to providing care in the community setting. She is working through a competency framework and portfolio of evidence to support learning in practice, whilst also supporting the team to manage an ever increasing caseload.
