A group of colleagues from across the Trust have taken on the role as our new Engagement Champions.

This means they will be working to support and promote engagement with our patients about our services, alongside working on equality and diversity initiatives to support individualised compassionate care for our patients.

After our first workshop in June many of them have now made pledges on how to make changes for improvement. These have include:

* making sure newcomers are aware of the improtance of equality and diversity and engagement

* setting up a focus group involving patients, careres and relatives to improve still fruther our stroke care

* engage better with our younger patients and their families.  For example we now have  Family and Friends cards designed around Marvel the Monkey to encourage responses from children..

Ruth Mason, Associate Director of Engagement & Inclusion said: "They aim to make sure we are listening to our patients, and that we use that feedback to improve our services and personalise care, to essentially champion the principles of engagement, equality and diversity."
