Ward 5 at HRI have been "flaming" brilliant at fundraising this month for new equipment on the ward.

This week it's been Olympic week. Olympic-themed raffle tickets at £1 a strip were sold with the winner in with a chance of winning a massive hamper filled with goodies including chocolate and sweets.

So far, the team have raised around £800 in the first two months after having a different theme each month, including Wimbledon and The Euros, and the money will go towards converting a room into a day-room filled with stimulating activities for patients which currently take place in the corridor.

The League of Friends has also got involved in the fundraising and are donating lots of comfy furniture so funds raised can focus on going towards buying activity equipment.

Ward manager, Mandy Musgreave, told us: "We've had lots of great feedback from consultants, patients and the families of our patients since we started our monthly fundraisers, and it's been great getting everyone including patients and visitors involved in decorating our ward for each theme."
