It was a Mr & Mrs double farewell to CHFT from Chris and Graham Parker last week.

Staff nurse Chris Parker  walked onto her last shift on Ward 15 at HRI - and straight into a surprise party.

Colleagues set up a buffet, sparkly banner and balloons to give her a send off after 40 years. The following day her husband Graham left theatres where he had been an orderly for five years after a career in electricals. Colleagues joined him in the Nightingale pub across from HRI for his send-off.

The couple have been married for 39 years and plan their post-NHS time together at their caravan in the Dales. Graham is also a classic car fan and drives a 1950 MG saloon.

An emotional Chris, who had a reputation for always been early for her shift was later  than usual as she had burned herself baking cakes for her colleagues. She said: "I will miss absolutely everyone."
