Patient Doreen Whiteley has presented  £175 from her 80th birthday donations to the urology dept at HRI.

Doreen was a patient 10 years ago for surgery to remove a tumour. She was seen by our consultant urologist Mr Nic Bryan who removed it and he now sees her every year for a check-up.

The total amount raised from her 80th birthday was £150 and then on the day of her presenting the cheque her daughter, Carol Whiteley, who works in A&E at HRI, surprised her with another £25 to add to her donation. The money will be spent on research and equipment for the urology department and ward.

Doreen said: “Ten years ago Mr Nic Bryan took out my tumour and he and his team cannot be faulted. I had a team that came to visit me at home which was amazing as well.”
