Around 70 people attended a recent Elderly Care Time Out event set up in response to the recent Invited Service Review by the Royal College of Physicians for Elderly Services.
The aim was to develop a strategy for Elderly Care Services for the next 3-5 years, across both patches and across both hospital and community care.
It was a well attended session, with colleagues from across the Trust (community and acute), colleagues and partners from CCGs, Locala, Calderdale Council, Kirklees Council, SWYFT, Primary Care, YAS and the voluntary sector gathered together.
Programme Manager Greater Huddersfield CCG, Pat Andrewartha , said: "It was really exciting that so many people from so many different parts of the patient pathway and from so many organisations came together in order to help develop Elderly Care Services across the patch. It was a really useful afternoon and an excellent networking opportunity."
And Consultant Geriatrician UHSM and Deputy Divisional Medical Director Unscheduled Care, Sally Briggs, added: "Thank you for inviting me to support your work around improving care for frail older people across Calderdale and Huddersfield.
"I was delighted and impressed to see the breadth of services represented by such enthusiastic individuals. You clearly have lots of areas of good practice and have clarified the next steps you need to take to embed a frailty service to support frail older people wherever they need to access our health and social care systems."
