Knowing we see patients at their most poorly and vulnerable spurred senior sister Stacey Jackson from A&E to organise flu training for her whole team.
Our Flu Fighter training programme kicked off this week as 12 sisters from A&E and MAU at CRH were trained as peer immunisers. This fantastic effort means each and every shift will be covered when we launch our vaccination programme in October.
Senior Sister Stacey Jackson spotted an opportunity to have vital immunising training during a study day for sisters - with the aim of being able to vaccinate their own team and also support drop-in sessions for other areas.
Stacey said "Here in A&E we see patients at their most unwell, with the vast majority susceptible to infection.
“A huge part of what we can do is to reduce the risk of us carrying the virus so we can protect patients and ourselves.”
Last year, more than 3100 colleagues had a flu vaccine to help protect our patients. This year we want to do even better, asking people to have the courage to put our patients first.
The training dates are attached. To book onto a planned session – please telephone training at HRI on 01484 35 5693
And...if you have a group of 8 or more colleagues that need training, and they can attend one session together, please contact Occupational Health on CRH 2037 - they may be able to put on a bespoke course just like the one at CRH.
