The Go Live dates have been agreed for the implementation of Nervecentre’s electronic task management system – Hospital Out Of hours Programme (previously known as Hospital @ Night or H@N).
Switch on at CRH will be 5.00pm on Wednesday 14thSeptember, and at HRI 5.00pm on Wednesday 12thOctober.
Phase 1 of the Hospital Out Of hours Programme, supported by Nervecentre’s Task Management System will begin at CHFT this autumn. A team of Nurse Clinical Co-ordinators is being created from existing Night Sisters and other newly appointed nursing staff. Clinical Coordinators will triage and allocate tasks to the most appropriate clinician out of hours to enhance safe compassionate care and patient experience. The team, including doctors on duty, will carry iPods and receive tasks on their devices.
‘Tasks’ will be raised by ward staff using a simple form on the Trust Intranet. There will be a drop down lists of tasks to choose from. A few other details will be requested depending on the nature of the task. The submitted form then goes to one of the Clinical Coordinators, a band 6 nurse, trained to triage these requests. From their mobile device they will then allocate this task to the most appropriate member of the out of hours team; doctors, ACPs, themselves and a new Clinical Support Worker role. These staff will receive the alerts on their devices with all the relevant information about the location and condition of the patient and what task is needed. Tasks can be prioritised and re-allocated in order for the sickest patients to be seen soonest and by the most appropriate member of the team.
The team will be visiting wards very soon to deliver training sessions. If you would like to know more please contact Dr Annette Burnby (Clinical Project Lead)annette.burnby@cht.nhs.uk or Cath Briggs (Project Lead Nurse) catherine.briggs@cht.nhs.uk
