Raising Concerns (including whistleblowing) Freedom to Speak Up Guardian – Dr David Anderson
Colleagues may recall an article in CHFT Weekly earlier this year (issue 51, 28 January 2016) setting out details of our Raising Concerns (Including Whistleblowing) Policy.
The policy sets out a number of steps colleagues can take to raise concerns and one of these is to raise issues with the Trust’s Freedom to Speak Up Guardian Dr David Anderson, Senior Independent Non-Executive Director
His role is to act as an independent and impartial source of advice for staff, signpost staff to other sources of advice, and raise concerns directly with the Chief Executive.
David can be contacted on 01484 355933.
The establishment of Freedom to Speak Up Guardians in every NHS organisation is one of the recommendations of the review by Sir Robert Francis into whistleblowing in the NHS. Guardians are expected to act in a genuinely independent capacity to provide leadership and support and to create a culture where staff understand and feel confident in raising concerns so that it becomes part of normal, everyday practice.
