Our new Director of Nursing Brendan hosted is first Big Brief on Thursday 7 July at CRH (see attachment).

Here's an overview of some of the things he said:

"I'm on day 19 and to open today with news of an HSJ award is phenomenal. We should embrace it and I know many people have been involved in this success over and above the team that went to the awards.

"We often focus on the negatives when we should be celebrating the positives".

Talking about our key risks:

"They are very similar to most organisations. We don't seem to be seeing any seasonal variations, and the few weeks has been challenging".

About the CQC report:

"We're expecting the report to be with us in week commencing 25 July - and we'll have 10 working days to review it and feedback to the CQC before they publish it".

About EPR:

"This is such a huge deal for our Trust, so in the coming weeks we'll be sharing more information with colleagues. They need to be clear on what's going to happen around go-live and beyond, including what support will be in place".

And finally:

"I'd encourage you to seriously consider entering Celebrating Success. Look at the buzz around the HSJ award....it doesn't matter how small you think your achivement is...please apply".

"I say this a lot.....you choose to be here....our patients don't.

"As a public service our challenge is going to be keeping up the momentum of putting the patient first when staffing and money is of such high focus nationally".

More about Big Brief:

The sessions are an opportunity for colleagues to hear the very latest news from our Trust, as well as the key things happening that affect us.

Owen Williams will be hosting the HRI session, also at 1.30pm in the learning centre.

This month there will be an update on the next steps of the CQC inspection, a pat on the back for Paediatric Outpatients and an update on the work in Community to help reduce hospital admissions and length of stay.

The Big Brief sessions are held on the first Thursday of each month at 1.30pm on both sites. The slides from each session are made available immediately afterwards for managers to share on with their teams.

See our page at: home/divisions/corporate/the-communications-team/big-brief - where you'll also find the venues for the rest of the year.
