Our General Manager in Children's Services, Gill Harries, completed the “Moon Walk” recently, power walking 26.2 miles overnight with friends raising awareness and money for breast cancer care and research. The condition is expected to affect 1 in 8 women in the UK.

We asked Gill, pictured with her friends before the walk, a few questions about it:

Q: What made you enter?

A good friend died of breast cancer last year in her 40s which was really sad and I have two other friends who have recovered from breast cancer so it felt a good thing to do (in fact they walked with me)

Q: What was the most challenging part of the walk?

Walking through the night and dealing with blisters!

Q: Did you see anything strange given it was overnight?

Lots of people outside their houses cheering us on making us tea… including a few drunks

Q: Have you done it before?

Yes - 14 years ago

Q: How long did it take you this time?

6 hours 45 mins

There is still an opportunity to sponsor Gill by contacting her in the F&SS office at CRH or giving her a call on ext 4338 (CRH).
