Lesley Murray enjoyed a three- day work experience with us in the cardiac physiology team at CRH, and as Volunteers Week came round last week, Lesley shared with us her experience throughout:

“I thoroughly enjoyed my placement with the Calderdale cardiac physiology team, there is a very strong patient -focussed team there who were incredibly welcoming to me.

“During the time I was there, I soon realised that a career in cardiac physiology was not for me. However, this was very useful for me to find out. What I took from my experience over everything else, is how the staff in the department were fantastic to each and every patient, even when lists were running very late.

“I spent time with Waelah Lahsoun during stress testing, she was brilliant with the patients and made them feel at ease, even though it was very clear that the patients were nervous. I also spent time with a physiologist called Letitia (may not be spelt correctly).

“She also showed me that she made sure every patient was treated as she would expect her family to be treated. Very important experiences and lessons for me. She was also incredibly warm towards me and made the whole experience less nerve wracking. The placement was well organised and I was made to feel welcome from the start.

“I leave my placement with important lessons learned, whilst I was disappointed that it was not the career I thought it might be, I am proud to say I spent time with the cardiology team. Calderdale patients are in safe hands.

“Thank you to yourself and Wayne for the help in getting this placement at such short notice. Hopefully our paths will cross again one day.”
