Our health visiting team recently attended a BME Health Forum at Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre in Halifax.

The Health Visiting team from Horne Street (Health visitors Julie Rashid, Sarah Eastwood, Lisa Delaney and Child Development Support Asma Bi ) found the event surpassed their expectations around community engagement.

They took the opportunity to raise the profile of health visitors with other participants: Community commissioners, Macmillan Cancer Support , Local GP representatives, Smoking Cessation, and the Better Living team to name but a few. 

Members of the local community of all ages were able to purchase vitamin D supplements and discover why this important vitamin is vitally important to health and wellbeing. Following on from the success of this event, the organiser Alan Duncan told them he'll be making sure he has input from the health visitors when planning other community based events.
