Last Wednesday, a Make-up Masterclass was held for people affected by cancer in partnership with Look Good Feel Better (Registered charity number 1031728).

Held at the Briar Court Hotel, the Masterclass was facilitated by the Trusts Macmillan Cancer Information Manager Dinah Coggon. A team of qualified beauty volunteers that have a wealth of experience either working for cosmetic brands within department stores, or who work independently as freelance make-up artists, provided the help and expertise.

Using their own make up, the ladies were guided through a 10-step skincare and make-up regime, with great hints and tips on how best to apply each product.

Particular care was taken with key ‘problem’ areas resulting from cancer treatment, such as re-defining the eye area when ladies have lost brows and lashes.

The aim of a Masterclass is to help improve the self-image and appearance by creating a sense of support, confidence and wellbeing of people undergoing treatment for any sort of cancer.

The class was very relaxed and informal and was also about having fun, giving people a chance to meet other ladies in a similar situation.

The feedback from the class was very positive:

  • ‘Brilliant course lots of good tips’
  • ‘Thank you for inviting us we enjoyed it!’
  • ‘Very pleasant ladies to help us’

Future dates for the classes:

  • 27th July
  • 19th September
  • 5th December
