The biggest party of the weekend in West Yorkshire was staged at Calderdale Royal Hospital (Sunday Mar 22) for more than 300 mums, dads and their children.One Halifax dad, Chris Blackburn, said: "Mr DeBono is an incredible guy and his team are all terrific. They make dreams come true."

The celebration is thrown annually by our Assisted Conception Unit team which this year launched its own specialist email for couples to contact our experts directly. It can be contacted at info.infertility@cht.nhs.uk. All questions received are replied in confidence by our doctors and nurses in the team which has one of the best conception rates in the country.

The event was so popular an extra bouncy castle was drafted in to ensure fun for all!  More than 70 babies-to-two year olds, 46 tots aged three to five and 20 aged six and up attended together with their parents. Attractions included face painting and a baby ball pool and hospital caterers provided a buffet

The get-together reunites parents with the ACU doctors and nurses at CHFT who helped them to become families and everyone shares their experiences. A raffle was held to fund next year’s event.

Sister Helen Marvell, said: “It’s always a pleasure for us to arrange this party because we know our families enjoy coming here so much. It’s fab to meet up again and to see them all again and see how their little ones are growing up.”

Consultant Martin DeBono, added: “Everyone at ACU is a team and that team includes our staff and our families. We go through it all together so the party is a real celebration for us all.”
