As a UNICEF /WHO Baby Friendly accredited service the Trust is required to protect and support breastfeeding in all areas of the service.
Women should never be made to feel uncomfortable about breastfeeding in public. In fact, the Equality Act 2010 has made it illegal for anyone to ask a breastfeeding woman to leave a public place. The act states that it is sex discrimination to treat a woman unfavourably because she is breastfeeding.
There are laminated signs available for use throughout the Trust stating:
You are welcome to breast feed here.
If you require private facilities please contact a member of staff
