Dinah Coggon, the Trust's Macmillan Information Manager, attended a local Black and Minority Ethnic Health Forum where different organisations had various stands with information and members of the public were invited to attend.

The event was arranged via the BME Forum at the Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre, Halifax, to encourage and demonstrate  the benefits of health and wellbeing.

There were various organisations such as the Stroke Association, Healthy Minds, Smoking Cessation Team and the Trust showcased the Cancer Information service that is available to anyone affected by cancer by having a stand displaying various information and signposting patients for support.

Dr Steven Cleasby a local GP and also a member of our local CCG attended the event and spoke with Dinah on what her role entailed and how service users were involved in ensuring they received the information they required.

There were over 17 interactions recorded and information such as Signs and Symptoms, General Cancer awareness and How to deal with Bereavement was given.

Dinah told us: “It was an overall enjoyable day with many people unaware the service was available to them and pleased they had a point of contact within the Trust if they needed it”.
