Consultant Radiologist Sarah Gurney and ophthalmologist Teifi James have entered Richard Branson’s Virgin Media competition called Pitch to Rich.
When they’re not working at CRH or HRI they run ‘The EyeBag Company’ in Halifax which makes a microwaveable eye compress for conditions such as dry eye, blepharitis and styes.
They believe if it is more widely promoted and used it could save the NHS millions as an alternative treatment to eye drops. They've been up and running for 10 years and in that time more than half a million have been sold.
They need votes to reach the next round when they will have to appear Dragons' Den style infront of Richard Branson and a top team of judges. The prize is widespread publicity. The votes closes on Monday,
You can see the EyeBag pitch here.
The EyeBag pitch is in 14th place out of the 450 entries in the 'Grow' category - so Sarah and Teifi would be delighted if colleagues and friends voted for them today.
We will update you on their progress in the competition.
