EPR Friends are essential to our success: at ‘go live’ and beyond.

Do you have what it takes to be an (EPR Friend). Our Electronic Patient Records (EPR) system is due to go-live in October - and we're seeking EPR Friends to support the launch and beyond.

We hope to recruit around 600 people to providing front line support to colleagues, assist in training, testing and other project events whilst gaining in depth knowledge of EPR.  EPR Friends will receive full training and support to carry out their role, however, they will need to come to the role with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, a friendly and calm attitude and a genuine desire to support colleagues.

Every department will need at least one EPR Friend.  Large departments will have several people in this role to ensure that there is adequate support and that Friends can work as teams and learn from each other.  EPR Friends will receive a full day of training (which will include coaching skills and also system training), spend some time helping to test the system and some EPR Friends may be asked to do special roles during the go-live period.

As an EPR Friend you will hold a position of responsibility in your department, giving you all of the skills and experience that come with it.

EPR Friends can come from any professional group or band so this is a real opportunity to gain broader experience, develop new skills and working practices and offer a refreshing change to your regular work.   It will also give you the opportunity to network with colleagues and be part of an exciting programme that will deliver real change.

If you think you’d make a good EPR Friend, speak to your manager and contact the team by email:   EPR-Enquiries@this.nhs.uk.

Training for EPR Friends is scheduled to start in May 2016.
