Colleagues on Ward 5b at CRH helped a patient celebrate her birthday yesterday (Weds 13 April) after she wanted them to share her 86th birthday celebrations.
Sister Amy Scholes from the ward told CHFT that their patient Mrs Lever had been on the ward for some months and had been on a long journey.
Amy said :"Soon she will leave us and she and her husband will move in to a new house. But before that Mrs Lever desperately wanted all the staff of 5b and doctors to share in her birthday celebrations with a fish and chip supper.
"The logistics of that were a challenge, so we came up with an alternative of a small party with sandwiches and cakes. Some of our staff, along with Mr and Mrs Lever were able to enjoy the celebrations."
Amy added: "It was an enjoyable afternoon for all and it was a pleasure for the staff on 5b to help Mrs Lever celebrate her birthday as she had wished (even without the fish and chips)!. We've all be very fond of them both and will miss them."
