Legal services manager, Nathalie Jooty, is responsible for managing some legal affairs, clinical and non-clinical claims and inquests against CHFT. She joined us in February last year.
She was born and grew up in Huddersfield, her parents are both retired nurses and one of her two sisters works at CHFT.
Nathalie first trained as a Staff Nurse at HRI from 1999-2002, before then working at a nursing home to help fund her studies until she qualified as a solicitor in 2009.
This led to specialising in claimant medical negligence work in Legal 500 firms in Leeds and York, joining a large NHS Trust before eventually coming back to CHFT.
When asked what the best bits about her job were, Nathalie told us: "Meeting and supporting our staff at all levels within the organisation. People are so positive and engaged in what they do.
"Even if I can make a difficult situation that little bit easier for our staff in difficult situations then I’ve succeeded. I’m currently developing how we can improve practices if we’ve had a successful claim to improve patient and staff safety in the future."
When our legal services manager is not at work, she spends time at home with her 8 month old baby boy. "I don’t get that much time to myself to relax and unwind these days but an aromatherapy full body massage or a nice bubble bath never fails to put a spring in my step."
And one thing people might be surprised to know about Nathalie... she loves baking and decorating cakes.
