Colleagues held a retirement do for orthoptist service manager Margaret Henshaw at Acre Mills.

They presented her with vouchers and earrings and they also attended a follow-up out  party for her last Friday night.

Colleague Lesley Boothroyd, said: "Margaret is an extremely popular colleague. When she started we had one orthoptist and we now have 10 - that is how much she has contributed to developing the service".

Orthoptists care for people with conditions such as squints, lazy eyes, untreatable sight loss and Margaret has also worked closely with the Blind and Low vision support group.

Margaret plans to spend more time with the family and generally "have a rest".
