Two of our colleagues on ward 2 A/B have retired this week, with  72 NHS years between them!

Staff nurse Sue Uttley and Sister Ann Wickens have been loyal to the NHS over the years after spending the majority of their working life caring for others.

Sue has worked for the trust for 36 years after training as an enrolled nurse and then working on the gastro ward before moving to the Short Stay Unit.

Ward Clerk, Heather Parkinson, told us: “Sue was quite a character on the ward and she was always cracking jokes which helped keep people up beat – even on a hard shift".

Ann has also been at the Trust for 36 years after working as a school nurse, before coming to work on ward 5ab as a sister and then eventually being redeployed to the Short Stay Unit.

Both of them have ended their careers on ward 2 A/B. Ann plans to return as a staff nurse part time.
