This week, CHFT held a fundrasier with a coffee morning, cake stall, and tombola, and all funds from the sales were raised for the medical retina fund- set up by our colleagues in the eye clinic.
It was a brilliant day and was well attended by patients and staff, along with a very special guest.
Luke Ambler, one of our very own Halifax RLFC players, came along to help and also drew the winning raffle tickets, providing two great prizes for the lucky winners.
Our team had contacted them with the hope of a prize donation for their raffle, but the players went one better and offered to show their support by coming and do the raffle themselves.
Specialist Optometrist, Kate Doordoyn (pictured in attachments) was one of those lucky winner, and came away with a new pair of straighteners.
The fundraising events saw Dr Yanmei Chen complete an amazing swim of Norwegian Fjords, which raised a whopping £800.
Yanmei told us: "Taking part in Calderdale’s ‘Swim the Norwegian Fjords Challenge’ allowed me to overcome my fear of swimming and in the process raised money for our eye clinic to help improve patient service. I would like to thank everyone for your fantastic support!"
Also, our day in Eye Clinic raised an impressive £500, and funds are still coming in.
All funds raised will spent on facilities and equipment within the clinic. One patient suggestion includes a hot drinks machine for patients following eye injections.
Nursing Assistant, Trish Hooson, said, "So many members of staff found a few minutes to visit, so all in all it was an excellent day that was enjoyed by everyone.
"Thankyou to everyone that got involved to support our Medical Retina Fund!"
