Between 1.30 and 2.30 pm today our next Big Brief will be delivered. They are on the first Thursday of every month now to enable more colleagues to attend.

Summary of HRI's Big Brief.

It started with a full roundup of achievements such as hitting the targets when other Trusts are struggling, a financial update about our efforts to keep the £20 m in sights and not to go over this. This has been helped by this Trust's best ever CIPS effort. (Nearly £18m)

Owen urged everyone to get involved with the consultation process and to have their say. He stressed the importance of the new hospital to the plans as £100m is needed to make HRI fit for purpose and even if we did spend that amount it would only last for the next 10 to 15 years.

Ahead of the CQC, attendees were asked to write down what makes them proud of working at CHFT - and all spoke highly about their colleagues and how they go the extra mile. Owen said the CQC should not be seen as "the enemy" and we should embrace them when they arrive on March 8. Pharmacy head Mike Culshaw said the basics had to remembered. " Don't let them see wonderful things about the care we give to patients, then spot a medicines cupboard left open. Don't let an unlocked cupboard let us down."

The HRI group agreed the preparations work for the CQC should be being done in any case as it is best practice.

No more Executive Board Summary.

The Executive Board summary was introduced for managers to share information about performance and other important information with colleagues. Now the Big Brief is established, we’ll no longer produce an Executive Board summary. The slides from the monthly Big Brief sessions (held on the first Thursday of the month at 1.30pm) will be just one of the ways we share information and any actions required in future.

Please use the Big Brief slides to cascade information to teams – see Divisions/Corporate/Communications Team/Big Brief or click the banner from the front page. The slides are available immediately after the Big Brief has completed.
