The Electronic Patient Record team are planning two more weeks of EPR roadshows, during the last week of January and the first week of February.

This second round of roadshows will offer a range of interactive ways for you to find out how EPR will transform the care we offer.   Opportunities will include hands-on sessions in our simulation centres, bite-size sessions in your ward or department and drop-in opportunities at the EPR marketplace stands.

Look out for further information on times, dates and locations in the coming weeks.

Why are we introducing EPR? (Electronic Patient Records)

EPR will help to transform how we care for patients by offering a single record for every patient which can be accessed by everyone who needs it.  EPR will pull information together, analyse it, automate common tasks, flag concerns and make everyone’s daily work easier to manage. It will also support safer, more effective health care.

When will EPR be introduced?

We are planning to introduce this system at the latter end of 2016, and at present, clinicians and managers are planning this together to ensure we do it in a way that benefits our patients most.

Will we get more computers, tablets or other devices to help us access EPR?

We are planning to introduce a lot more computers and devices for staff to use.  The computers and other devices that people will use to access EPR will use wifi so that they are as portable as possible, and we are reviewing wifi connectivity as part of the programme.

What support will there be for staff?

There will be a lot of support for staff with the introduction of EPR. Initially, members of the EPR Programme team are visiting work areas and clinical teams to give some basic information. Following this, everyone who needs training will be invited to attend and have the opportunity for hands on learning.  EPR Friends will receive advanced training to support colleagues and will be available in all work areas too - if you think you’d like to be an EPR friend, contact the team.

How do I find out more?

The introduction of EPR will mean a big change for everyone. If you’d like a member of the EPR team to visit your department and talk about
what this could mean for you, please arrange a time by emailing:  EPR-enquiries@this.nhs.uk.  There’s also lots of information on the EPR website: epr.this.nhs.uk
