CHFT is a member of one of the two new Genomic Medicine Centres unveiled this week to improve the diagnosis and treatments of cancer and rare diseases.

We are part of the Yorks and Humber group with partners across the patch. There are 12 centres across the UK.

The initiative involves storing  human genomes - complete sets of people's genes as well as all the DNA between genes - to enable doctors find out more about specific conditions. Overall 70,000 people will be involved.
