November's So What Happened Next? patient safety newsletter.

Now available (see second attachment) - the newsletter is a way of sharing our learnings and next steps around patient safety. It also fits with the questions the CQC will ask us about how safe our services are.

This month articles include a trial of a new repose wedge to help prevent pressure ulcers, and lessons our Trust has learned around checking discharge medication.

Please make sure the newletter is shared with clinical colleagues to keep them updated with learnings/best practice.

Clean sweep

Congrats to our team who have become British Institute of Cleaning Sciences** (BICSc) - approved trainers and assessors, and have just been awarded their certificates.

This means they can  train all staff - not just our domestic teams and not just at CHFT- but also at other trusts, sharing their expertise in areas such as body fluids, computers, sharps.

Getting the status means we have a  consistent and safe cleaning model which keeps us on top of all quality regulations and permanently CQC compliant.

Jason said: "It really has been a fantastic team and also individual effort."

** BICSc was developed by cleaning professionals to qualify cleaning professionals in the skills they need and desire. It aims to: protect the operative, provide a clean and safe environment, preserve assets, promote sustainability, produce best practice.
