Proudly graduating and receiving their Masters of Science in Public Health Nursing (MSc) are Health Visitors Sandra Pritchard MSc and Alison Walklate MSc.

Former Health Visiting students of CHFT, they are the only two students to complete the course from the 2013/14 Health Visiting cohort.

They are pictured alongside their course tutor Tracey Hardy and attribute their success to the support of their respective CHFT colleagues, The University of Huddersfield and of course their families and friends.

Health visitor, Sandra Pritchard, said: "It is because of CHFT that we can continue to support others both in terms of empowering individual families and continue to support colleagues. By educating staff we are able to educate a community."

“Because others have been generous with their knowledge, both Alison and I have the unique opportunity to be able to share ours. We are feeling very humble and proud”

Alison has recently been appointed as an Infant Feeding Support within the trust, and Sandra having been involved in the design and pilot of the innovative pre-school reviews used by Todmorden Health Visiting Team.

Both graduates acknowledge the tremendous support from their practice teachers Janet Smethurst and Alison Bottomley who mentored and encouraging them throughout their initial training.

Calderdale also fosters a culture of sharing  good practice at their regular Health Visitor Forums. Sandra was inspired to further study by her Health Visitor colleague Janet Hallet MSc who she told us made it look so easy.

They continue to actively encourage those wishing to join nursing as a profession by regularly sitting on the University of Huddersfield interview panel.
