CHFT has lit up purple this month in aid of World Prematurity Day on Tuesday  November 17th.

The idea came in the form of an 'Ask Owen', which suggested CHFT help raise awareness of the day.

Ward sister, Debbie Martin-Lawson who submitted the Ask Owen question, said:  "My intention was to highlight this on behalf of BLISS a non-profit making organisation who give support to the families of all sick and premature babies."

Although globally every 30 seconds a premature baby passes away, 75% of these fatalities are preventable. The care they receive in the first hours, days and weeks of life are critical to their survival and life-long health.
