Team work to improve building and faciltiies for patients at HRI continues to win awards.

Our new oncology suite on Ward 7 and the continuing ward refurbishment programme has won a top award for  both bringing value and teamwork in the Constructing Excellence National Awards 2015.

Working with Interserve and our partners, this project has significantly improved the condition of the hospital and the environment for patients, staff and visitors in recent years.

It's an on-going project with learning from project to project which has helped us to continuously improve at a time when money is tight.

The judges said: "This teamwork has helped squeeze every pound for the Trust during a period of deep austerity. The collaborative relationship has achieved many goals mainly reducing costs, project programmes and emissions whilst delivering high levels of customer satisfaction.

"The quality of care is improving and this has been highlighted in recent patient surveys and independent audits from the Care Quality Commission.

Due to good close working and good  team-work, the projects have evolved so it now take 17 weeks - down from the original 26 weeks - for each ward refurb. The Trust's emissions are lowering through investing in energy efficient technologies including new boilers and LED lighting.

**And next week our Acre Mills Outpatients project is a finalist in the prestigious Building Better Healthcare awards in London..... so fingers crossed there.
