Ieuan Jones and Josh Goldspink first joined CHFT in September 2014 for a one year course based at both cardiology sites.

Now, a year on, they have both completed their Healthcare Science Level 2 apprenticeship and are now clinically & fully competent in ECG application and assist in the smooth running of a very busy Cardiology Department.

Education lead (Cardiology), Wayne Massey, told us: "Both have worked very hard to achieve their goals in becoming Healthcare Science Assistants in Cardiology."

The apprenticeship was run by Barnsley College and funded by Health Education Yorkshire and Humber.

Ieuan Jones, who previously worked in technical recruitment and accident management, is now on an access course hoping to study medicine next year. He will also be working as a healthcare assistant on the wards whilst studying.

Josh Goldspink, who attended Kirklees College,  is now on the level 3 apprenticeship and retained a place in Cardiology where he will learn more complex diagnostic tests within the department.
