Cheers rang out and emotions ran high at stunning Huddersfield Town Hall last night at Celebrating Success 2015.

The top award of the night went to a team of midwives who now perform a little operation on newborn babies if they are born tongue-tied and cannot feed properly. The team, headed by Marilyn Rogers, went to see the surgery performed at Southampton hospital then brought the skills back to CHFT and now more than 330 babies have undergone it. Before, there could be a wait of up to six weeks. The group won the "Go See" category of the awards based on our Four Pillars.

Collecting the top award, in memory of our former chairman Gordon McLean and a cheque for £5000 to invest in work, Marilyn, said: "It's absolutely amazing to win. It's a whole team experience." Her colleague Louise Garside, said: "Marilyn is an inspiration who goes the extra mile for every woman and baby she ever comes across. She is the true meaning of compassionate care and she looks after her team as well as her patients."

Welcoming around 170 CHFT colleagues including two tables of lucky dip winners, our Chief Executive Owen Williams, said everyone was a winner. "There is no such thing as a loser or a second place. Everybody on screens tonight is a winner. It can't help but make you proud about working for the Trust."

He also said it was important to have the event to thank colleagues for all their work caring for local people. "We could have 5,000 people in this room and you represent them all. It is so important that we take time to celebrate what we do for local people."

The mayor and mayoresses of Kirklees and Calderdale attended. The Mayor of Kirklees, Cllr Paul Kane, said: "You are all winners and take it from me you are doing a fantastic job."
