Our amazing breast care nurses are back in action  this weekend as fashion show coordinators.

For the 10th year running they are staging the event as part of Breast Cancer Awareness month at Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top. Their patients are the stars of the show putting their illnesses behind them to take to the catwalks in front of their families and friends.

Advanced breast care nurse practitioner Veronica Allinson, who has been involved since it started, said: “It’s our 10th event so we are all looking forward to putting on a real celebration show. There’s nothing quite like the atmosphere. The families bring the house down in support of their mums, grans, sisters and aunties up there on the catwalk in the spotlight. It is very emotional and really quite special for them and us too."

Among the patients taking part are a  44-year-old woman, Gina Gleeson, from Todmorden who had karate during her chemorherapy sessions and is fitter post breast-cancer than she was before and an 80-year-old  Shirley Kerrigan (both pictured in attachments above) from Lindley who has had a hip replacement and a broken back bone as well as recovered from breast cancer this year.
