Jane Webster began working for the NHS a whopping 44 years ago in 1971, (a year when Mars Bars cost 2p ...... interesting little fact from your CHFT Weekly team)!

Jane began in July of that year work as a clerical officer in the Group Treasurers department, and she can still recall the difference in office life today.

For example, when based at St Luke’s, office workers saw tea tolleys whizz past twice a day and although she didn’t have to make her own cuppa, she told us the drinks were famously awful and she would much rather have made her own.

March 1990 saw Jane join CHFT in the Payroll Services department, where she has worked up until her retirement in September 2015.

When asked what was the most enjoyable aspect of her work, Jane told us it was the people who made the job what it was, and they were they reason she enjoyed coming in to work.

She added: “I plan to spend my retirement travelling and enjoying the time I will have to just do things that I couldn’t before. I’m also looking forward to spending time doing leisure activities, particularly swimming.”
