Mark Donaldson volunteers every Monday for CHFT as a ‘meet & greet’ for patients and visitors at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and is backing a new way of ensuring his medical condition is picked up.

He suffers from Todd’s paralysis, a focal weakness of a part of the body after a seizure and he now wears a digital wristband named Tap2TagMe. This could  electronically replace the medical tags worn in jewellery and works by storing important, and sometimes crucial medical information, which can be accessed by those who need it.

After suffering from a seizure caused by his Todd’s paralysis diagnosis, Mark was initially treated for a stroke. He was taken to Calderdale Royal Hospital and his symptoms were actually caused by Todd’s paralysis and not from a stroke.

Mark told CHFT Weekly:  “The device helps if I’m found alone because it shows to others what my medical details are.”

He has also been in touch with a lady whose daughter wears one and she shares his relief that the wearer will get the correct care if necessary.
