We are now just three weeks away from Theatres Action Week but you can still be involved if you would like to volunteer.

If you are interested, please talk to your line manager and then contact joe.minton@cht.nhs.uk or 01422 222508.

The theme is SUPER and  the "P" stands for Patient Flow and Experience.

By patient flow we mean the timeliness of transfer from an admission unit or ward to theatres, from theatres to recovery and from recovery to discharge or return to the ward. Patient flow can be hindered by a number of different factors; sometimes patients are not ready when they are called, sometimes journeys are delayed by lifts or there are not staff available to move a patient, other times there are not beds available on the wards so patients have to wait in recovery. Flow so often impacts on patient experience. Whether it is that patients have to wait around for their procedure or plans change at the last minute so they might not even get to have their procedure on that day.
