As part of our business processes, and our commitment to Monitor, the Trust are required to develop a 5 Year Strategic Plan by December 2015. This plan will build on the recommendations made by the Strategic Review (PA Consulting final document), recommendations from NCAT during their review of the Trust and plans we have progressed since with other local providers in the Strategic Outline Case and  Outline Business Case.

We have discussed preparation of the 5 Year Strategic Plan with Monitor and they have advised we need additional capacity and capability to develop the plan to the standard they require. To this end we have gone to market to identify a consultancy firm to support us in the development of the plan. We will have a consultancy firm in place by the end of September. By the end of December the key outputs will be:

  • in the  short term a CIP plan for 16-17
  • in the long term a 5 year plan to address 2 site working and safety issues, financial issues and recruitment issues associated with that, taking into account the external environment and stakeholder contribution.

The key messages you need to take away are that:

  • The Trust is focused on the development of both a short term and medium term strategic plan by the end of December.
  •  At the end of September we will have engaged a consultancy firm to support us in the development of these plans.
  • The firm will work through the PMO with all other corporate functions and Divisions, and other stakeholders in the wider health and social care economy, in the development of the plan.
  • You can expect to be involved in the development of the plan over the coming weeks and months.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.

In the meantime if you’d like to know more please contact Sue.burton2@cht.nhs.uk or Catherine.riley@cht.nhs.uk in the PMO office.
