After beginning her first day of training in December 1975,(the year when a loaf of bread cost no more than 30p), Ward Manager Julie Hepworth has retired after 40 years.

After beginning her career working across many departments including Orthopaedics and Coronary Care, her last 10 years were spent on Ward 4 as both a Sister and Ward Manager.

From Mirfield, Julie described her love for looking after her patients as something she’ll miss most alongside the staff she worked with, as the last 40 years have provided her with a routine she has become used to.

Once home from a two week break, Julie plans to spend her retirement amongst friends and family, whilst enjoying some of her hobbies that include yoga, swimming, horse riding and socialising. When asked to sum up her full experience during her time working for the NHS, Julie said, “Teamwork, Patients and camaraderie”.
